Transitional Kindergarten (TK) is the first year of a two-year kindergarten program where teachers prepare students for kindergarten by designing their daily plan with the kindergarten standards in mind. Transitional kindergarten introduces the traditional kindergarten standards to children in a social and interactive way using modified curriculum that is both age and developmentally appropriate.
Qualifications for Transitional Kindergarten:
- A child is eligible if he/she turns five on or during September 2, 2017 – December 2, 2017. There are no exception to the age requirement. A child who turns five on or before September 1, 2017 will be enrolled in Kindergarten.

Program information for Transitional Kindergarten:
For the 2017-18 school year, there is one transitional kindergarten classes located at Meadows Elementary and one at Lomita Park School. Green Hills and Meadows families will be assigned to Meadows. Spring Valley and Lomita Park families will be assigned to Lomita Park. Transitional kindergarten hours are 8:15 – 1:15 AM (Monday – Friday).
Year-to-year, the location and number of classes are dependent on student enrollment and classroom availability. School/class placement will be assigned based on the family's home school. Program Information for the new school year (location and time) will be sent to registered families by mail by mid – August when these final decisions are made. The program will follow the regular school year calendar.
